One day, many years ago, I packed my suitcase with hopes and dreams, leaving the borders of my own country behind to journey to the world's largest expanse, Russia. As an architect, I had always felt surrounded by the stories of buildings and cities. Yet, Russia invited me into an entirely different world with its historical texture, mesmerizing architecture, and vast steppes.

When I first stepped into Moscow, I could not hide my admiration for the city's complex beauty. The grandeur of the Kremlin, the history of Red Square, and the majesty of the Bolshoi Theatre dazzled me. However, what impressed me most as an architect was the perfect harmony between traditional Russian wooden architecture and modern structures.

Living and working in Russia presents a mix of exciting opportunities and challenges for many. As the world's largest country, Russia is distinguished by its rich cultural heritage, vast natural resources, and diverse climate conditions. On one hand, it offers all the conveniences of modern life in its major metropolitan cities like Moscow and Saint Petersburg; on the other hand, regions such as Siberia offer a life intertwined with nature.

The Russian economy is concentrated in areas such as energy, mining, heavy industry, and agriculture. Additionally, there are job opportunities in sectors like IT, finance, education, and tourism. For foreigners, opportunities exist especially in fields like engineering, information technology, and teaching. However, knowledge of the Russian language is a significant requirement for most positions. The language barrier is one of the main difficulties in the job-seeking process in Russia.

Living standards in Russia vary significantly according to the city and region. Living in big cities is more expensive but offers greater access to social amenities and services. Basic living costs like rent, transportation, food, and clothing are generally affordable. Russia's cold climate, especially during the winter months, can be challenging. Therefore, investing in winter clothing and home insulation is important.

Another challenge for foreigners moving to Russia is cultural differences and social integration. Russian culture, richly shaped over centuries by numerous influences, is one of tradition and hospitality. However, integrating into a new country's society takes time and effort. Acquiring knowledge about local language, customs, traditions, and social norms can ease this process.
